Introducing Bella and Bird the Emotion Explorers!
Helping kids explore their feelings through engaging stories and tools
I’m thrilled to launch my brand-new children’s book series, Bella and Bird the Emotion Explorers! Heartwarming stories that help kids understand and manage their big emotions and feelings.

The series was inspired by Hurricane Ian and my real-life therapy horse, Bella, who lived through the storm with strength and calm. Her resilience and gentle spirit became the heart of these stories. Bella is wise, nurturing, and full of love. Alongside her feathery (and often funny!) sidekick, Bird, she helps children explore emotions like anger and sadness (and more).
These interactive books focus on emotional intelligence and emotional literacy while blending storytelling with gentle, practical tools like the Emotion Wheel (I specifically made for this series with research-backed feeling words connected to each emotion), box breathing, and gratitude habits. Perfect for parents, teachers, and therapists supporting emotional growth in children.
The First Book is Almost Here!
Available Summer 2025, the first book in the series: Bella and Bird Explore Anger will be available to order soon!

Visit our Fun Stuff page to find app recommendations for kids as well as our two core emotional-intelligence-boosting downloadable exercises for children:
- The Emotion Wheel exercise is designed to help your child identify and talk about their feelings and emotions. We’ve designed it to be easily printable and it also includes a guide to help you use it with the children in your life.
- The Box Breathing exercise was created to help you child (or you) calm your nervous system in high stress situations. It comes with a guide as well so you’ll know how to use it with the children in your life.
Also Available Now: Emotional Literacy Guidebooks and Resources for Grown-Ups

I’ve created companion guidebooks tailored for parents, therapists, and teachers. Packed with simple strategies, vocabulary boosters, and fun discussion prompts to bring each story to life in homes, classrooms, and therapy sessions. These can be used in conjunction with Bella and Bird Explore Anger, but some features of these guidebooks can also be used before the book comes out to foster emotional intelligence with the children in your life.
In addition, the For Grown-Ups page includes recommended books and other resources for parents, mental health professionals, and teachers, or really anyone who wants to help children with their emotional wellbeing.
